Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) hosted the Valedictory Session of Smart India Hackathon 2022 being been chosen as one of the Nodal Centers for the hardware edition of Smart India Hackathon 2022 which was held from August 25 to August 29.

The Valedictory Session was held in the gracious presence of Chief Guest Dr. Abhilasha Gaur - COO-ESSCI; Guest of Honour, Dr. Devraj Singh - Vice President Technical and Standards, ESSCI; Dr. Sonal Yadav - Regional Consultant, MOE's Innovation Cell; Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Srivastava - MD, MREI and Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS; Dr. Umesh Dutta - Director, Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Center; Dr. Abhiruchi Passi- HoD, ECE, FET, MRIIRS; and Dr. Leena G - HoD, EEE, FET, MRIIRS.

Dr. Abhilasha Gaur shared, Ethics has to be placed in education and Smart India Hackathon 2022 has all four these: education, enthusiasm, entertainment, and now the finals with great gusto. These four have been well-integrated that are important for any kind of ecosystem.” While sharing about ESSCI, she emphasized on the ‘Make In India’ initiative and the skilled workforce for which a skill ecosystem needs to be created. She added, “Programmes like Hackathon motivate you to think differently and deviate you from rote learning. This makes it important to conduct such events.”

While sharing his thoughts, Dr. Devraj Singh said, “Skilling is an important pillar for experiential learning and has to be at the forefront of the Indian education system. The New Education Policy 2020 emphasizes a lot on skilling and vocationalization of education, and this will help us produce a skilled generation who are also able to generate employment opportunities.”

14 Teams from PAN India innovate at MRIIRS

At MRIIRS, 14 teams from PAN India worked on four problem statements that were assigned by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and the Ministry of Culture. #e-tech, Intruder, Carb o green/ Eco Rejuvenators, and Innovgen emerged as the winners of Senior Smart India Hackathon 2022 Hardware Edition.

Along with this, winners of Junior Smart India Hackathon 2022 Hardware Edition were also felicitated at the MRIIRS nodal centre. Intelligent Squad, Masters of Algo Land, DysDiag, Eco SoldateGreenions emerged as winners. 

Launch of the Book Authored by Manav Rachna and IIIT Vadodara faculty

The event also witnessed the book launch of "8051 Microcontroller Fundamentals and Programming" authored by Dr. Umesh Dutta (Director MRIIC), Dr. Kamal K Jha (AP-IIIT Vadodara), Mr. Vikas Sharma (Research Manager MRIIC) and Mr. Shivam Gupta (Manav Rachna Alumnus). The book has been released world wide and will serve as a ready reference for electronics enthusiasts who are willing to take a deep dive in the field of Microcontrollers. 

Start-up by Manav Rachna Alumnus Launched

Another important milestone that was achieved in the event was the launch of a start up from Manav Rachna: MayGarage founded by Mr. Aman Choudhary, Alumni of Manav Rachna. This start-up provides mobile App based home service for two wheeler vehicles.

Hon’ble Prime Minister interacted with Participants

It is noteworthy that during the inauguration, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi interacted with all the participants of Smart India Hackathon 2022 through a virtual platform on August 25, 2022.

Each Problem statement of SIH senior edition had a winning amount of Rs 1 lakh and SIH junior winners were awarded with an amount of Rs. 25,000/-
