According to a study, Apple has become the leading employer in India's electronics sector for blue-collar workers. In the last 19 months, the corporation has created over 1,000,000 new direct jobs, primarily through its major domestic vendors and their component suppliers. The government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) programme, which aims to promote regional industry and increase employment prospects, is responsible for the jobs' creation.

The three companies that assemble iPhones, Foxconn Hon Hai, Pegatron, and Wistron, have created 60% of the new jobs and are responsible for the lion's share. Foxconn has created 35,500 of the 100,000 jobs total. With 14,000 employees, Pegatron, which began production this fiscal year, has quickly risen to the position of second-largest employer.

According to the data, the total is around 7,000 jobs more than Apple promised to create under the programme in the second year. There is still one month left in the company's fiscal year.

According to the research, the ecosystem surrounding Apple, which includes component and charger providers, has added 40,000 new jobs.

The PLI scheme was implemented in August 2021, and since then, the majority of the new employment has been generated. The sellers must provide their employment information to the government on a regular basis.

Together with the three main Indian manufacturers, the entire Apple ecosystem has seen an increase in employment. According to reports, Tata Electronics, Apple's primary component supplier for mechanical parts, has a sizable workforce in the supply chain.

According to the data, the total is around 7,000 jobs more than Apple promised to create under the programme in the second year. There is still one month left in the company's fiscal year.

With almost 11,000 employees, Salcomp is one of the other contributors. According to government estimates, the PLI programme would generate 200,000 direct jobs overall over the course of five years.
