The award was presented to Merkle at Cypher 2022, at a ceremony held in Bangalore, India, on September 22, 2022. The Data Science Excellence Awards by Analytics India Magazine (AIM) honour the outstanding use of data, analytics, and AI to foster innovation, develop new goods and services, and drive operational effectiveness in enterprises.

Merkle was awarded the ‘Best Data Science Project of the Year’ for their AI-enabled Feature Extraction Engine. Data cleaning and feature engineering are integral to projects in analytics. But these steps are particularly challenging when dealing with unstructured textual datasets. Long-form text data is immensely valuable for many insight dashboards and reports. Merkle’s AI-enabled Feature Extraction Engine simplifies feature extraction by efficiently automating many of the pipeline components. It makes tedious tasks like preference tagging effortless and helps extract the required product attributes in a structured format.

Shirli Zelcer, global head of analytics and data at Merkle said, “We’re honoured to be recognized by Analytics India Magazine for our expertise in building cutting-edge AI/ML-powered solutions. Projects like Feature Extraction Engine help us transform data and develop a deep understanding of our customers, which is key to transforming customer experience. This award is a validation of the impactful work Merkle does in the field of data, analytics, and AI. Kudos to our team on this win.” At Cypher 2022, Merkle’s Geetha Apathotharanan, vice president, technology, and Sonia Thakurani, vice president, data platforms also co-delivered a keynote session titled "How AI is transforming CX in a cookie-less world."
