The first AI chatbot product, named Pi, has been released by Inflection AI, a company created by Mustafa Suleyman and Reid Hoffman, co-founders of Google DeepMind and LinkedIn, respectively. Pi leverages generative AI technology, like OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot, to have conversations with users and react to their inquiries. With a goal of producing a highly expressive and human-like conversational experience, Inflection AI developed the chatbot internally.

Suleyman claims that the chatbot has been programmed to create a balance between keeping humour and originality while also being politically correct.

While the company has stated that Pi is not intended for producing code or essays, it is perfect for daily tasks that you perform for yourself. Utilising user data and conversational content, the AI chatbot has been trained to perform better. Pi may be used on a number of platforms, including its website, mobile app, and social media pages like Instagram. Although the service is free, the startup has said that it may eventually offer premium subscriptions.

The development of the chatbot's emotional intelligence and ensuring that it responds appropriately in all circumstances are top priorities for AI. The business has educated Pi to be aware of its actions and refrain from breaking any of its rules, including refraining from having romantic conversations.

Generative AI-powered chatbots have gained popularity after the release of OpenAI's ChatGPT in 2022. VC company Greylock supported the development of Inflection AI, which resulted in a $225 million investment in the startup. Due to potential conflicts of interest resulting from his work with AI startups, co-founder Hoffman, a partner at Greylock, resigned from OpenAI's board in March.
