As a developing nation, India holds a momentum of advancements and new businesses. Although the advent of Covid-19 did pace it down, technology came as a solution to almost all the hurdles. Existing tech intertwined to support the offline models of working and new tech inventions sprouted out of necessities. Largely, technology held the fort in unprecedented times.

One such dependable system is models powered by Artificial intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision (CV). It can help multifariously in many sectors. Computer Vision records data in real-time, identifies defaulters and ensures appropriate decorum is maintained at workplace. It superpowers them to surveil spaces, document data, analyse, sort relevant information and build reliable business decisions for the future.

A standard CCTV, when provided with such smart systems, can help regulate a space with minimum human intervention. Especially in a time where social distancing became crucial, AI-CV-based cameras help to deploy SOPs, raise alarms in case of discrepancies and ensure safety at the worksite.

A common way of marking attendance to date is maintaining a register or biometric access. Facial Recognition systems help reduce surface contacts for the workers. Regular headcount is also put into place to be alerted in case the primary attendance does not match.

Managing Large Spaces

In areas like warehouses and manufacturing units, it is difficult to run consistent manual checks. AI-CV model is an effective option to detect fires, report suspicious environments and activity. Unwarranted intrusions are controlled, equipment usage protocols are put into place, wearing of safety gears and PPEs is checked, lighting is managed, overcrowding is detected, emergency exits are kept clear at all times. The data recorded may later be used to improve workplace infrastructure to promise safety at all times.

Similarly, in the construction industry, where building skyscrapers is becoming lucrative, multistorey inspections can be facilitated. AI-CV smart models may come in handy to do qualitative, topographic and weather checks in the pre-construction phase. Moreover, these smart drones shall be beneficial to control the risks of working at tricky heights. Minimal manpower will be employed as drones provide regular feeds of the required area. Remote-run drones, detect intrusion, fire, and theft. It also adds to the efficiency of inspecting minor faults during construction at a better pace and time.

The smooth functioning of tools and equipment is also a key factor to reduce on-site hazards. Manufacturing units may leverage the smart systems to ensure proper machine utilisation, provide relevant maintenance, and keep productivity in check. In warehouses, virtual boundaries can be created for machine/ truck movements to raise alerts in time. Trucks’ turn-around-times (TAT) and optimal usage of spaces to store products can be ensured.

The Retail Sector

In the retail sector, customer behavior can be documented to obtain relevant insights. Peak visit timings, heat maps to understand key areas of attraction, demographics and even average shopping time is depicted. Inventories can be managed to timely restock products meet the high demands. The information collected can help owners to broaden product variety, assess a vertical or lookout for expansion.

The Banking Sector

An under-discussed, yet important sector where AI-CV models can add value is that of banking. Having assets worth large amounts, a highly secure environment is not only necessary for the bank, but also builds the trust of the users. Staff activity is monitored, user access is given post-authentication, assets are assessed for damage. It promises fraud control, data interpretation for satisfactory customer experience and increases the operational efficiency of the banks. ATMs are secure with AI-CV-enabled CCTVs to detect and call for action rapidly. The predictive analysis helps prompt about insufficient cash or machine breakdown. The need for more ATM machines can be decided basis the data gathered for peak timings and average time spent by users. Besides, suspicious elements or postures are identified more accurately to avoid theft.

To Sum Up AI-CV-enabled apparatus is a time and cost-effective solution where the data can be accessed on the devices we own. The data analysis, at last, delivers productivity, risk management solutions and adds value to the business.
